VELscope Oral Cancer Exam
The VELscope is one of the newest pieces of technology available to the dentist and his team for early detection of oral cancer. Did you know that in American someone will die from oral cancer every hour of every day? Almost 100 new cases are diagnosed every day in the U.S. alone. And, only one-half of these patients will survive more than 5 years. It's a heart-breaking statistic!
The bigger question is "are you at risk?" Risk factors include tobacco use, frequent and/or excessive alcohol consumption, a compromised immune system, past history of cancer, or a family history or oral cancer. Even as many as 25% of all new cases are discovered in patients under the age of 40 with no existing risk factors!

STA (Single Tooth Anesthesia delivery system)
STA is especially effective for anesthetizing lower teeth. It allows us to numb only one tooth rather than the whole side so that the experience for our patients is greatly improved. Because we're numbing only one tooth, the anesthesia also clears faster so patients no longer experience the profound numbness of the cheek, tongue or lip for up to 2 hours as in the past. Nitrous Oxide (commonly known as laughing gas)
We now have nitrous available to our patients. Nitrous is an inhalation sedative, commonly known as laughing gas, allowing for a very relaxed, conscious state during treatment. This service is not covered by dental insurance plans and a per visit usage fee is payable at time of service. If you're an anxious patient in the dental chair, please feel free to speak with us to see if nitrous oxide sedation would be advantageous for you.
